Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (UK)
The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will be a key member of the Site Reliability Engineering team, and take responsibility for working within an agile team to support the development of our products, by ensuring that the infrastructure is scalable, reliable and fit for purpose, and assisting the engineers as required.
Role Responsibilities –
- Work within a cross-functional software team (consisting of Software Engineers, other DevOps Engineers and testers) to design, provision and maintain infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code
- Encourage, guide and enforce development, server management and information security best practices throughout the team and wider organisation
- Proactively monitor key services and work with application/device engineers to avoid expected problems
- Assist the engineering team to improve security, quality, time to market and scale of our products
- Help to maintain the automated CI and build pipelines
- Act as part of an on-call rota for out of hours maintenance and unexpected downtime

Required skills/experience/qualifications:

Essential
- A strong standard of spoken and written English
- Enthusiasm for understanding technical ideas and explaining them clearly to colleagues
- Experience in scripting and automation
- Understanding of the deployment, scaling and security of cloud services
- At least 2 years of commercial experience (or equivalent) in working in a DevOps or Operations role
Desirable
- Experience of working in an agile development team, ideally with a distributed workforce
- Experience of using infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform, Cloud Formation) to provision, scale and manage infrastructure
- Experience debugging distributed systems (we operate a monolith with ancillary services)
- Experience managing configuration across an estate through automation (e.g., Puppet, Chef)
- Experience operating services within orchestration systems (e.g., Nomad, Kubernetes)
- Understands “Perfect is the enemy of done”
- Experience using distributed source control management (e.g. Git, Mercurial)
- Understanding of programming, networking and information security principles
- Experience using public cloud services (e.g. AWS, Azure)
This is a Full Time Permanent Role. You will need to be based in the UK however you will be working remotely.
