The Background

Jersey Offshore Establishments have been using Impero since 2016 and throughout that time has used the software to improve safeguarding, teaching, and learning across their 49 establishments.

The Requirements

The Government of Jersey schools, Senior Leadership Teams, DSLs and E-Safety staff identified a need for a tool to help support with identifying safeguarding concerns like bullying, trolling or even suicide. The team needed software to support early interventions before situations escalated.

The solution needed to be simple, quick, easy-to-use and intuitive which all staff members could use.

“For us, safeguarding is paramount, and a right  for each child, that we take seriously. Every child  matters, so it is important for us to have the tools  in place that teachers can use at their disposal and that are user friendly.”

Our Approach

Once we identified that Education Pro would be a  great fit for the Government of Jersey, we began the implementation process which included hands-on instruction delivered by our in-house training team. As Education Pro was pushed out to all primary schools, we held weekly meetings to ensure everything was running smoothly and all staff members were confident in using the software.

“I really commend Impero’s eagerness to work with us and help with the training of staff at our primary  schools, in particular. They are always wanting to  help!”

The Outcome

Since the implementation of Education Pro, schools are better able to identify students who are being trolled and monitor students who are regularly raising concerns.  The keyword detection and captures feature have enabled staff to better understand concerns and use this information to prepare for appropriate intervention.

“Impero particularly useful to be able to tailor the  settings for those with specific needs to give them a more bespoke approach.”

Alongside safeguarding improvements, teachers benefitted from classroom management features, particularly the lock screen function.

“Technology can be such a distraction and being able to lock the screens means that there is more engagement with the curriculum at the point it is needed. It’s benefitting teaching and learning, not just safeguarding.”
