Midyear update from Impero CEO Justin Reilly
Impero midyear update from CEO Justin Reilly
So far, 2020 has been unexpectedly challenging. The Impero team has worked tirelessly to adapt to rapid changes in the education space, while still fulfilling our important mission of learner wellbeing. Without the team’s hard work and adaptability, none of the following achievements would be possible.
At Impero, we are so grateful to our customers for working with us as their schools closed across the U.S. and they adapted to remote operations, including teaching and learning. We recognize the lengths some have gone to keep children safe and their education prioritized. We provide the tools, but our customers do the hard work. In June, we launched a new tool to meet the needs of schools in a time of crisis: Web:check is our smart, real-time content filter, designed to provide every student with a safe online learning environment without restricting their access to important educational resources. Soon, we’ll also be introducing a free-forever student safety solution for schools to protect vulnerable children.
The company has also grown significantly over the past six months, with 29 new employees joining since January, and three more starting this month. I’ll take this opportunity to welcome our new employees. We look forward to continuing to grow the team headcount during the rest of the year.
When I joined, I knew Impero had to lead conversations across the globe about student safety and wellbeing. I’m proud to say we have done just that. We have held well-attended webinars on topics such as mental health and student wellbeing, and have several more scheduled through the end of the year that will touch on CIPA, COVID-19 tracking, suicide prevention, and more. Thanks to all the guest experts and employees who participated and dedicated their time to making these efforts successful.
Despite an incredibly tough year, our recurring revenue for the first half of the year has grown 17% over the previous year. Financial success isn’t something to take for granted given the present circumstances, so it’s worth celebrating our collective efforts. This growth is being invested into developing even more groundbreaking products and services that will help schools navigate how their districts will reopen schools in the fall. Watch this space: in October, we’ll have an exciting new product launch to tell you about.
All this positive news has really given the Impero team a boost. Again, I’d like to express my immense gratitude for the team’s ongoing work, and the work of our partners to keep things running smoothly despite the turbulent environment.
