The NSPCC’s latest findings regarding sexual offences
24th October 2019
This morning, the NSPCC released shocking figures regarding sexual offences against children. The number of cases is continually rising, and this year, the number of offences has reached a record high. The rise of sexual offences includes rape, sexual assault and grooming. The NSPCC have put the rise in offences down to better recording and increased reporting. Alongside this, they also think that social media and online interactions have contributed. Paedophiles can exploit the use of social media to enable them to contact children. Figures back this statement as in 2018/19, there were 8,656 record child sexual offences flagged as involving an online element.
