Comic Relief 2019
18th March 2019
This Friday at Impero we will be grabbing our red noses to support a great cause – Comic Relief 2019! Comic relief was launched in 1985 on Christmas Day, live from the Safawa refugee camp in Sudan during Noel Edmonds’ Late Late Breakfast Show. Some say the highlight of Comic Relief is Red Nose Day, which made its first appearance in 1988, raising a whopping £15 million! Over the years Comic Relief has raised over £1 billion, all thanks to the generosity of the British Public.
How is Impero getting involved?
This Red Nose Day, our team dusted off their sweatbands and got their game faces on, ready to compete in our Impero Sports Day. It was a competitive morning for our teams, they were stretching out ready for our wheelbarrow race, and some have now gone off eggs due to their embarrassing loss in the egg and spoon race. After all the blood, sweat and tears, it was the Sales Engineering team that was victorious – well done!
In honor of Radio 1s LOL-A-THON, we also thought we would break out the Dad jokes for our ‘Bad Joke’ stand up show. Many members of the team took to the stage with the challenge of making their fellow colleagues laugh. Turns out we have some professional comedians among us!
Finally, it wouldn’t be Comic Relief, or any charity event for that matter, without a tasty bake sale! The Impero team brought in all sorts of goodies from Swiss rolls to shortbread, all of which went down a treat! In total we raised over £90 for Comic Relief this year, so we would like to say a big thank you for all those that got involved! Hopefully, our tomfoolery encourages you to support a great cause like Comic Relief.
