another year at Impero

Is it just us or do the years get shorter? It seems like only yesterday we were packing pallets and prepping demo stations for Bett 2015 (the milestone in every EdTech professional’s calendar!) and here we are again, just three weeks away from our biggest show of the year and frantically trying to agree ice cream toppings (don’t ask – just swing by our stand in January and all will make sense!).

It’s been an exciting year at Impero with lots of changes and, as is convention at this time of year, we wanted to take a look back at some of the highlights.

A new office – we opened a brand new, purpose-designed head office in Nottingham to home our growing team. Don’t worry we brought the pool table and foosball table with us!

A new CEO – Sam Pemberton joined us to drive Impero though it’s next phase of business growth. Sam has extensive experience driving international expansion, particularly in the United States, and has a strong track record in the technology sector.

A new CTO – Darren Forster was appointed to head up the technical side of the business having held a range of director and VP positions in tech companies, affording a strong background in both technical knowledge and commercial understanding.

A new customer portal – we launched a brand new online portal so customers can log in and raise support tickets or access information from the Impero knowledgebase.

Over 500 new customers – we welcomed on board a record number of new customers in 2015 and look forward to meeting them all at industry events and Impero seminars over the coming months.

Over 1.5 million active licences – at the last check there were over 1.5 million active Impero licences now out in the field.

Attendance at over 30 shows – we’ve hit the road and taken to the sky this year, totting up air miles to be in attendance at over 30 tradeshows and industry events. These events are a great opportunity to talk to customers and industry experts and feed useful knowledge back into the business.

A new customer referral scheme – with so many customers referring us to other schools and colleges we decided to introduce a referral scheme so we could reward our biggest advocates. This gives customers the chance to earn Impero credits and enter into quarterly prize draw (this quarter it’s for an Apple watch!).

New SMART partnership – we announced our SMART Technologies partnership, which will allow any SMART customer to upgrade their SMART Sync installation to the full feature set of Impero Education Pro at a greatly reduced partnership price, through one of our trusted partners.

The development of a counter terrorism, extremism and radicalisation keyword policy – in response to customer demand, and following the introduction of the Government’s Prevent strategy, we partnered with a number of expert organisations to develop a keyword library addressing this new threat online. The policy is currently in the final stages of a pilot and due for release early next year.

Hosted two online safety seminars – we introduced an impressive line-up of expert guest speakers from across the industry to advise schools on the changing nature of online safety.
