Impero Software Introduces New App to help Schools Report Student Safety Concerns Immediately from Mobile Devices

Launch of EdAware app coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day

Austin, TX, Sept. 10, 2019 – Impero Software, a specialist provider of student safety and device monitoring and management solutions, today announced the launch of its EdAware app to help school staff quickly record and report concerns about student safety – no matter where or when these concerns arise. This includes concerns about bullying, self-harm, suicide and more. The announcement coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day, and is the latest example of how Impero supports schools in keeping students safe. The app is available to download on both Android (https://bit.ly/2lJ410t) and iOS (https://apple.co/2k9uuUl) devices.

The EdAware app is an extension of Impero’s EdAware software which simplifies the recording and management of student safety concerns, from depressive episodes to risky online behavior, to help identify potential safety risks. The app makes EdAware even more accessible by allowing school staff to record and access pertinent information about students from any computer or mobile device.

“Every year, suicide is among the 20 leading causes of death globally for people of all ages according to the International Association of Suicide Prevention,” said Reilly. “World Suicide Prevention Day raises awareness of this important issue and we felt it was fitting to announce our EdAware app today as an additional tool to help schools identify potential concerns about suicide or self-harm so they can keep students safe.”

Schools use Impero EdAware to create a profile for each student to record multiple types of data relating to students’ health, wellness and safety. For example, schools can add health and nutrition records, or notes on any wellbeing concerns such as if a student has a history of panic attacks.

The software can also access keyword alerts from another Impero product, Impero EdProtect. For example, if EdProtect alerts school staff that a student has a history of internet searches that could indicate possible suicidal ideation, that information will be added to the student’s profile in EdAware to help create a more complete picture of the student. This data can help inform counseling sessions, behavior management conversations and safety interventions.

Impero EdAware also provides schools with resources and guidance around school safety legislation and student privacy regulations. It integrates with a school’s student information system and provides granular reporting making it a rich and easy-to-use tool to support student safety.

“Student safety concerns don’t always arise when school staff members are next to their computers. They can come to light on the playground, in the lunch room or in a hallway after class,” said Justin Reilly, CEO of Impero Software. “Our EdAware app provides a convenient way for school staff to quickly log their concerns using their mobile device. They can also access prior information about students so they can determine whether to intervene.”
