Impero ISTE 2016 – mission complete

7th July 2016

Another year at ISTE has come and gone. The Impero team touched down at Denver, Colorado and proceeded to share a universe of network, classroom, and online safety management solutions with the many ISTE attendees. As this eventful trip comes to a close, we reflect on all the happenings that ensued…

Rocketship booth was stellar

ISTE-STAND-1-smallThere was no missing the 16 ft tall rocket ship that housed four live software demo stations. Visitors to the booth were in awe of the creativity of the stand, representing the future of education technology. (If we don’t mind saying so ourselves!) Our awesome team manned the demo stations, providing tours of our Education Pro software and the solutions offered for IT managers, teachers, counselors, and administrators – and most of all STUDENTS.

Keyword launch was a success

Our big event for the event, if you will, was the launch of our updated online safety keyword libraries. Available within Education Pro, the libraries detect words and phrases that could indicate that students are accessing harmful or questionable subjects such as bullying, racist and religious hatred, suicide, eating disorders and even radicalization. To learn more about the keyword libraries, you can read the full press release here (as featured in Tech & Learning.) To get the keyword libraries for your school contact us.

Live interviews

One of our favorite parts of ISTE is the ability to share our software solutions with all possible audiences. This year our message was made available via live webcasts. Our CEO Sam Pemberton shared the advantages of online safety monitoring in live video with Tech & Learning, and our US Marketing Manager, Felicia Rateliff was able to discuss eSafety on the Education Talk Radio podcast with the great Larry Jacobs of . Be sure to take a listen!

Astronaut selfies-imperorocket iste2016 Twitter Search

What ISTE booth is complete without a selfie station? Our Astronaut Selfies were a big hit with big returns for our charity partner iKeepSafe. Every selfie that was tweeted with #ImperoRocket earned a $1 donation toward iKeepSafe’s internet safety and digital citizenship curriculum. It’s free for educators; check it out here. After the show we were honored to donate our astronaut to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

Astronaut ice cream

We couldn’t stop with the space theme, so the big icing on the cake for our stand was Astronaut Ice Cream. The only thing better than eating the tasty freeze-dried treat was explaining it to all the booth visitors. Many passersby took the ice cream packages home as out of this world souvenirs for their kiddos.

Rockies baseball game

If you haven’t already noticed, Impero’s head office is in the UK, so half of our ISTE team had never been to a US baseball game. We had the great pleasure of attending a Colorado Rockies game complete with a rain delay. It’s not cricket but we sure had a great time! (The US team members had a lot of explaining to do!)Rockies-Baseball

Bubba Gump Shrimp

In keeping with showing our across the pond teammates some good old American fare, we had an entertaining dinner at the Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurant. We all got our fill of fried fish and shrimp and some US movie nostalgia to boot. “Run, Forest, Run!”

Bubba Gump ISTE

Overall this year’s ISTE was a great experience that allowed us to connect with all kinds of education constituents. We shared our software solution, launched our online safety keyword library; earned money for charity; and saw the sights of Denver, Colorado USA.

See ya next year in Texas!
