Keyword detection libraries
As safeguarding responsibilities for UK schools intensify, the pressure for staff to stay up-to-date with the language used by young people – and the myriad safeguarding signs they have a duty of care to spot (as required in recent government legislation) – increases too.
Impero EdProtect’s inbuilt keyword libraries are a core part of its e-safety software offering. The libraries have been carefully developed in partnership with a number of charities and specialist organisations. The libraries provide definitions relating to a broad range of safeguarding issues, from bullying and trolling to grooming, self-harm, sexting and counter-radicalisation, as specified in KCSiE. All terms are assigned severity ratings designed to help school staff respond appropriately and within context of a student’s wider behaviour, both online and offline. The keyword libraries are built using Unicode, supporting multiple languages, and schools also have the option to add localised terms if they choose.
