It goes without saying that this year has been unexpectedly challenging so far. Everybody at Impero has worked tirelessly to adapt to the rapid changes and continue to fulfil our important safeguarding mission, and without their hard work and adaptability, none of the following achievements would be possible.

At Impero, we are so grateful to our customers for working with us throughout lockdown and for the lengths some have gone to, to keep education going and children safe. We provide the tools, you do the hard work. Since January, we’ve launched two new tools to meet the needs of schools in a time of crisis. Impero Back:drop is our new cloud-based safeguarding software, and we’re proud to offer a free-forever solution to schools to help them protect vulnerable children. Impero Web:check is our smart, real-time content filter, designed to provide every student with a safe online learning environment without restricting their access to important educational resources.

We have also grown the company significantly over the past six months, adding 29 new employees since the start of the year, with three more due to begin this month. I’ll take this opportunity to welcome our new employees, and we look forward to continuing to grow the headcount during the rest of the year.

When I joined I knew we had to lead the safeguarding conversation and I’m proud to say we have done. We have held well-attended webinars on vital topics such as mental health and student wellbeing. Thanks to all the guest experts and employees who participated and dedicated their time to making these efforts a success, especially Chief Constable Simon Bailey, Claude Knights, Independent Consultant on Family and Child Protection issues, Ceri Stokes, Assistant Head and Designated Safeguarding Lead at Kimbolton School and Charlotte Aynsley, online safety consultant and safeguarding advisor at Impero.

Despite an incredibly tough year, our recurring revenue for the first half of the year has grown 17% versus prior year. Financial success isn’t something to take for granted given the present circumstances, so it’s worth celebrating our collective efforts. This growth is being invested into developing even more ground-breaking products and services that will help schools navigate this new normal. This includes an exciting product launch in October, so watch this space and we’ll keep you updated over the coming months.

All of this positive news has really given Team Impero a boost. I want to again express my immense gratitude for the ongoing work of the team and our partners to keep things running smoothly despite the turbulent environment.
