Impero wins EdTech Exporter of the Year at the Bett Awards 2017

Impero is delighted to have been named EdTech Exporter of the Year at the 19th annual celebration of the Bett Awards last week. The prestigious evening ceremony, which is produced in association with Besa and coincides with the Bett Show, took place on the 25th January, 2017 at Tobacco Dock. Hosted by comedienne Jenny Eclair, the evening saw shortlisted companies come together to celebrate the best in education technology.

Considered the most prestigious accolade in the EdTech industry, the Bett Awards encourages, recognises and rewards outstanding sector resources, learning solutions and companies. Judged by a panel of experienced educational professionals, including teachers, consultants, advisers, and high profile ICT journalists, the two-stage judging process announced the finalists of each category in November 2016. Finalists were then invited to attend the evening ceremony where highly commended and winning entries were awarded.

Impero’s customer-centric US strategy, which focuses on meeting the needs of the US education sector, secured the award. In response to the rise of Chromebook sales in US education, Impero has focused development effort around Chrome OS functionality to ensure that the classroom management and online safety features of Impero’s flagship product, Impero Education Pro, were compatible with this device type. Crucially, though, customers can simultaneously use Impero’s software across all major platforms.

A targeted marketing plan for the US saw the production of a comprehensive research paper detailing the online safety requirements specific to each state; newly formed partnerships with relevant charities and specialist organisations (including Hey Ugly, ikeepsafe, Anad, and the Institute of Digital Citizenship) to inform Impero Education Pro’s keyword detection libraries; the creation of a US specific website with localised SEO, Google AdWords, weekly blogging and social media activity; and new content, including videos, whitepapers, and case studies to support integrated campaigns.

Impero also established dedicated US support, sales, and account management teams operating from 5am to 5pm Eastern time.
