Anti-Bullying Week: Change Starts with Us

14th November 2019

Anti-Bullying Week – the theme

The Anti-Bullying Alliance (one of our online safety partners) worked with over 1,000 children across the UK to decide the theme for this year’s Anti-Bullying Week. The chosen theme is ‘Change Starts with Us’. Bullying can have a significant impact on a child’s life, no matter what the cause or type, whether its verbal, physical or online, bullying should not be tolerated.  The long-term impacts can be detrimental, including the negative impact it can have on a child’s mental health and wellbeing.

What can you do?

Change starts with us. It starts with a simple conversation, checking in on a friend, providing support and care. Even the smallest, simplest change can dramatically change the outcome of a child’s life. Bullying needs to be challenged, and that can only be achieved if we work together. It requires a collective responsibility from schools, children, parents, carers, teachers and settings to stop bullying. This week is a great opportunity for you to reinforce the message about how your school approaches bullying. Here at Impero, we encouraged our colleagues to wear blue for Bullying UK.

Impero's Blue Day

What can Impero do to change bullying?

Chloe’s story is a video that Impero created to highlight the issue of cyberbullying and how Impero Education Pro can change a child’s life through its online safety and bullying prevention functionality. Extensive keyword libraries, real-time monitoring and alerts provide the tools to detect the early warning signs of bullying on school grounds to protect those vulnerable students. As seen within Chloe’s story, Impero’s anonymous reporting tool allows students to report bullying confidentially about themselves or others.
