Technical Architect

Impero are seeking a highly experienced engineer, to lead on the technical architecture of the new product suite. Impero is on a journey to migrate all products to the cloud, and over time, integrate new acquired products onto one consolidated platform.

The successful candidate will apply their technical expertise to deliver high quality products to our global customer base. They will be comfortable diving into a large project that serve thousands of customers. Understanding and leveraging proven software development patterns and recognizing when patterns may require improvement or refactoring will be key. This role has been created to lead on evolving the new product set and platform to a higher degree of sophistication, mentoring, and coaching engineers and resolving the more difficult issues, should they arise.  This is a key role in the Impero evolution as we look to continually improve the Impero platform and product set. Our customers depend on us and the software you build makes a meaningful difference to educators and corporate entities alike.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design architecture changes to existing products to achieve gradual integration into unified platform, increased automation, security, robustness, compliance, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement PoCs to test feasibility of the designs.
  • Work with stakeholders and development teams to make sure agreed-on design is implemented in optimal manner.
  • Work with product team and stakeholders to translate design changes into backlog items.
  • Track impact of new deployments (performance, cost-effectiveness…).
  • Keep architectural and deployment documentation of product suit and components up to date.
  • Assist members of the support/development/infrastructure teams where required.

Required skills/experience/qualifications:

    • At least 5 years of commercial experience (or equivalent) in Software development, DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure or Architect roles.
    • Familiarity with C/C++, .Net, Python, JavaScript, Ruby on Rails, and ability to work with any language as needs arise.
    • Good understanding of cloud technologies, databases, Linux operating system, operating at scale, service monitoring and optimization.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Excellent analytical and design skills.
    • Ability to think outside the box.
    • Familiarity and/or work experience in areas of Computer Networks, Data Science, HPC, complex IT environments, will be considered a plus.

 

This is a Full-time permanent role and will be fully remote working however you will be required to travel from time to time to attend meetings at HQ (UK).
