De La Salle is a Catholic boys college consisting of 1200 students and 130 members of staff on two campuses. The College will have established a 1:1 student to computer ratio by the end of 2011. The majority of students will be using 10" wireless netbooks running Windows XP. The network consists of Xirrus wireless arrays and wired desktop workstations in computer labs. De La Salle spent several months comparing and testing all the leading classroom management software products before deciding to use Impero. Impero's ability to control applications, sound, USB devices and internet access was superior to other products. Impero Classroom Management enables the IT Services staff and teachers to record, monitor and control student activity and identify any who are off task. Teachers are able to select their class from a list and apply policies to control software and internet usage. The developers are an active part of a community forum and respond quickly to customer questions and suggestions. When compared to competitor products Impero's ease of use, efficiency and comprehensive control made the decision an easy one for De La Salle. |

“We had been using NetOp for a number of years until I came across Impero while on a visit to another school. I was so impressed by what I saw I decided to do a trial in one of the IT suites. As soon as I started to use Impero it was clear that this was the classroom management solution that would meet the needs of the school. Teachers have found it easy to use and like the way they are able to send files and websites to students and the ability to block the internet if required. Many students see computers as game consoles and media players.Impero allows you to easily block these distractions and allow teachers to control what happens in their classroom. I would highly recommend Impero to schools looking for a classroom management solution.” |

“Impero is a first-rate piece of software. It’s simplicity is admirable while it’s innovate features are well designed with teachers, students and administrators at mind. Although very powerful, Impero has not been a hindrance on the network and is simply efficient and effective. Students are more on task and more engaged in lessons, whilst teachers hugely benefit from using the valuable tools available. Administrators can oversee the network computers with ease and conduct sometimes lengthy tasks with the click of a button. Impero is definitely worth the price.” |

“We have had many class room management solutions installed on our network to try and find the best one. We have now after long years of looking found the one that is truly the best. The setup and installation is so easy anybody could do it. The software is not only just class room management software but so much more you can view all internet activity, run reports, inventory and much more. We have now been using Impero for the last 9 months and it has made teachers lives so easy now to manage the classroom and be able to be in control of every student. This software does exactly what it says it can do. It has made so many people’s working life easier. The support from the technical team is out of this world, they are so pleasant and 9 times out of 10 fix the problem there and then while on the phone.” |

“We spent a long time looking for an All-in-one solution for our ICT classroom management, PC control and Internet usage monitoring. Impero ticks many of the boxes we were looking for, which no other single software solution could. It does this so effectively that it has freed up a lot of time for my team to concentrate on those development projects that you always want to do but never get around to. As a provider, Impero have been helpful, flexible and willing to listen. Excellent all round product and service!” |

| “Impero is saving us money, it has replaced two products, it is simple to install, and simple to use, not only can a teacher manage their own classroom computers, but as the network manager I can keep an eye on remote machines, and manage print credits, startup and shutdown the computers at a specific time. Impero even lets me define my own security policy’s and if a word or phrase is detected shows a violation, and can even save an image of the violation. Impero has the same client on all machines so a manager or teacher can logon to any computer and use the management tools. Impero is saving us about £200 year on year compared to our previous support costs.” | |

| "Impero is fantastic for setting quick assessments to check student progress and identify any weaknesses in student learning. Impero has an intuitive test creator which allows for the easy and fast construction of classroom assessments. Students really appreciate the feedback as a teacher can comment on the class performance during an assessment and marks can be downloaded in spreadsheet / csv form. Excellent for keeping an electronic record of student progress." | |

“Impero has been a real success allowing teachers to monitor student activity and keep students on task during lessons. It has also provided some surprising benefits to our visually impaired students who use laptops to view the teacher’s presentations, videos and worksheets using the Impero broadcast feature, these students can now sit anywhere in the room rather just at the front of the room which helps them participate in team activities and integrate with the other students.” |

“We bought the software during the holidays and have been running it with the students for just under a week. Already it is making my life easier and I am loving some of the features I have discovered (the computer/energy usage stuff - excellent). Deploying was a dream to do and so was setting up print credits. We do have other software and hardware that does replicates some of the features of Impero but this will make things simpler.” |

Impero has proven to be far superior to other products we have tried in the past. Impero is quick to set up; the console is very straightforward and easy to understand and full of useful tools. Teachers use it daily to assist students in labs; principals can monitor school wide computer activity from the convenience of their office. If we have any questions that their extensive Knowledge Base might not cover the Impero Staff are very knowledgeable, extremely friendly, and easy to work with. Impero has dramatically reduced our tech department open ticket time helping us to be much more efficient when addressing computer maintenance issues or user specific issues. We can manage any computer or all computers at once easily with a couple clicks. Ease of quick remote access, to setting program restrictions that allow us to enforce and automate software compliance, to the automatic power settings on groups of computers which help us lower energy costs. The tech department can now be proactive by setting policies in Impero which alert us by email, console, or both. Once alerted the tech department can respond remotely to address the alert issue, sometimes without bothering the end users computer session. A few months ago we had validation issues that started popping up on workstations randomly, some laptops, minis, and desktops were affected. We knew it would take a few hours fixing the issue, that is until we thought of using Impero’s violation alerting to let us know of the validation screen popup box to alert us thereby pinpointing the affected machine and reducing the resolution time from hours to just a few minutes! Impero has become an invaluable must have product and we strongly recommend it. |

“Serco Civil Government are responsible for the management and maintenance of a number of prisons in the UK. We were looking to replace our existing remote support product with a more cost effective solution and were introduced to Impero. When we realised that Impero allowed our technical support teams to monitor and control not just our staff, but also the custodial residents using a thin client infrastructure, we then began a phased rollout to test the level of control that we could implement in a secure environment. Impero’s suite of tools has continued to impress us, and now all Serco Prison and Immigration facilities in the UK are using Impero as the default tool for remote support, filtering and user management. Through liaising with the technical staff and account management team we have been able to configure and deploy Impero to suit our specification.” |

“The power and flexibility of Impero is very impressive. Once we started using Impero, we were quickly able to start seeing issues with computer use of which we had previously been unaware. The software provides numerous benefits in and outside the classroom! Along with the capabilities of the software, the Impero staff are very quick to respond and very accommodating for individual needs. While testing various classroom managements programs, I soon discovered that the Impero staff was the easiest and friendliest to work with. Impero is truly a top notch software package with a top notch team that goes with it! Highly recommended!” |

Bishop Ramsey School has been an extensive user of Impero software since 2007 largely using the classroom management and network management elements of the Impero software to allow teachers to take control of their learning environment and for the network manager to remotely manage his network . In the last 6 months the school has looked to utilise the new power management features of Impero to reduce the schools carbon footprint and energy costs, and have now deployed full power management across 570 workstations including 180 laptops. ‘Whilst it is still too early to confirm exact numbers of savings to our energy bill, it is clear that using Impero for power management our school is now significantly reducing our energy waste which in turn must be contributing to savings on our electricity bill. We have deployed the software across our workstations and even have 170 laptops running the software. On selected curriculum machines’ we have a policy of powering down after 45 minutes of inactive use and at the end of the school day machines with no user logged on are instructed to power down with further periodic shutdown checks until close of hours. Impero gives you greater flexibility and granularity in how you want to adapt power management for different clients on the network. The ease of use is also a factor, Impero allows you to do away with scripts previously used for startup and shutdown operations.’ |

“Segbroek College is a large school with over 2200 students, 200 members of staff and over 350 workstations. Because the IT helpdesk only consists of 3 members, making sure the entire network and workstations are running optimally is a big task. After trying out several network management tools which caused our entire test setup to crash and cause everything to run at a crawl Impero came to the rescue. The installation and deployment of Impero is like a dream. The installer integrates with our Active Directory making sure it is only deployed on workstations it is required on. Fine tuning groups of administrators and teachers is very easy: we can make sure teachers are not able to view and control other staff members and only see the classroom they are currently teaching in. Because of the easy to use interface our teachers barely need any instructions at all and can start using it immediately. With inventory management, energy control and staff support Impero shines even more. Providing users with a easy to use “Request support” button allows us to quickly respond to any questions or problems a user might have. The energy control makes sure workstations are never on after work hours and the inventory management allows us to generate reports on workstations usage and keeps all specifications in one easy spot. Impero saves us hours of manual labour every week, making it one of the best networking tools available. ” |

"This is the best software of its type I have ever encountered. It is easy to set up, a breeze to deploy and absolutely rock solid in operation. I have looked at and used a number of the competitors offerings but for pure power, value for money and ease of use this annihilates the competition. Teachers at ISCCB are over the moon with the level of control and management Impero gives them in the classroom and I, as ICT Systems Manager, am extremely pleased to find software that does exactly what it says it does. I can, and will, heartily recommend Impero to anyone who needs to easily manage their IT suites and internet access." |

"We have been using NETSupport School for a number of years now and were in the process of renewing our licence when I became aware of Impero. As soon as the trial started to be used it was clear that the product was much better suited to our requirements. The software will make a big difference as it is much easier to administrate than NETSupport and allows for specific staff members to be given only the monitoring rights that they need. Very impressed and will be recommending Impero without hesitation to others. The auto-recording of access violations and complete student logging are particularly nice features and ones which I am sure will prove their worth time and time again." |

"We evaluated most classroom management products available on the market before making a decision on which one to buy. However only Impero was realistically affordable to us as a medium sized school, not only in terms of purchase price but also ongoing support costs. "Our teachers have been raving about Impero because it is exactly what they needed. It gives the teacher the ability to see what students are doing, correct them if they are not on task, and communicate what they are expected to do—all without raising your voice or calling attention to individual students. It is a teacher’s dream come true. The ability to take control of all computers is wonderful when giving students instructions and having them actually listen rather than playing on their computers. "As the District Technology Director for our school system, this software is invaluable to me and my technical staff. The program is very user friendly from both an administrative perspective as well as a teacher/lab end user. It has provided an easy solution for our district to both monitor computers usage and perform administrative tasks such as software installation. The ability to record what a user is doing without their knowledge has been extremely beneficial documentation for users who denied they were violating their Acceptable Use Policy. We have been using the software for about a year now and have only begun to unleash the power of Impero. I would highly recommend Impero to anyone who is concerned about the safety of their users and needs an application for monitoring and directing user’s computer behavior." |

"The Impero program has been very helpful for our Highly Structured Classroom. It allows the director of that program to monitor each student's computer to make sure they are on sites they are allowed to be on and not on sites that are banned. It also has allowed the director to "record" actions by students to prove what they had and had not been doing. This year, we had some threats made via the computer. This program was able to record the specific key strokes of the student, making it easy to prove in court! That, and many other educational values are included with the Impero program." |

"As an upper level English and History teacher, I have found the Impero software to be invaluable in regards to monitoring and conferencing. My average class size is 30 students and I cannot view each and every student computer especially when I am conferencing with a student; therefore, the ability to view all computer screens from one computer works brilliantly and serves as a ‘forced’ motivation for all students to stay on track. Additionally, as a writing instructor, I use the computer to communicate with the students while they are working on their respective writings. I can read as they write and ‘take-control’ of their screen when necessary to place a comment providing grammatical, mechanical, or prose direction. Not only is this time effective for me but I have received comments from students that they are now able to understand exactly where my comment is intended as the remark is placed directly at the point of error rather than in the margin. An example of the effectiveness occurred today. My seniors were working on their research papers and I had announced that even if they were done they needed to proofread and revise rather than wasting their time playing games. During the course of the class, I monitored three students playing games and took control of their computer. The resulting action was my point was made without interrupting the whole class. In a nutshell, I absolutely love the Impero software due to its time saving, discipline, and communication abilities. It is one software application that lives up to the hype." |

"Impero software has changed my job by making it easier and giving me the ability to multitask at my workspace. Kids can be experts at visiting inappropriate sites even when you’re walking around the room in order to check for that very thing. Often times, I must be at my desk to catalogue or help students look up information. In the past, this was an invitation for trouble and wasted work time for the students working on the computers. Now, I can accomplish my computer work, while still helping the teachers facilitate the ethical practice of Internet research by their students. Impero makes it possible to discretely monitor students’ activities and guide them back on track in a private way, which is important. Impero saves me time by allowing me to work from my desk and monitor students at the same time and it lessens students’ tendency to visit inappropriate sites. Because of Impero, productivity increases for everyone, including the librarian, the teacher, and the students." |

"The thing I like best about Impero is the ability to take control of lab computers. I use this feature during faculty meetings when I train teachers. I also use it with students when I demonstrate things in the lab. I use Impero to “send files” and websites to students and teachers. I also like the ability to “monitor” our computer labs from my office. The ability to block the internet and lock computers temporarily is a plus as well. I would recommend Impero to any school looking for lab controlling software." |

"Our school district has been using Impero for approximately three months and has been extremely satisfied with the results. Installing the software was an easy process as well as setting up the user groups. Impero is a very useful tool for Internet filtering. It is very precise in flagging written violations, logging those violations, and providing screen shots for reference. Teachers use the software to broadcast lessons to students and to monitor student activity. If a student is not on task, a teacher can quickly notice this. Our technology personnel can troubleshoot problems by taking control of a teacher or student computer and sometimes fix the problem without having to leave the office which saves considerable time. Teachers, staff, and tech personnel are very pleased with the ease of use and the capability of the software. As technology coordinator, I understand that technology is a valuable resource if used appropriately. Our mission is to educate all students by providing a safe, disciplined and motivational environment in which all students learn to their full potential and I feel that Impero helps us to do just that." |

"We have been using Impero for a few months now, and the functionality is superb. The lab manager can keep better watch on what is going on in the lab, and is alerted when students stray onto sites that may be harmful. Instead of writing a URL on the board and relying on everyone to type it incorrectly, the lab manager can open the web page on all of the lab PCs with just a few clicks. When the lab manager is absent, it is very easy to go back into the log and see what went on while they were gone, and report problems to the principal. Also the ability to share the desktops and remote in to another PC is very beneficial. The staff at Accro are very helpful and quickly answer any questions we have, and offer lots of assistance and training. This is a great tool for anyone managing multiple PCs!" |

"I am very impressed with the Impero classroom management software I feel that it is one of our greatest tools here in our program. As a principal I am at ease with the amount of control that our teachers have over the content that the students can access. The product is simple for the teachers to understand and the support that I have encountered with the company is outstanding. I believe that the implementation and use of this product has drastically enhanced the value of our students education, gone are the days of students wasting time playing useless games, and accessing sites that have no educational value. With Impero teachers have total control of their classroom, and their instruction is superior plus student’s achievement has improved. In a program that services at risk students that can be easily distracted this software is indispensable." |

"YES! I use it everyday and love it! Here is what I use it for: Sending a file to one or many students:Whether it is make-up or work or a worksheet, sending the file is often quicker and easier than email or the like. Plus it helps us stay green when we don’t have to print as much. Demonstrations:Not only do students respond better to having demonstrations being broadcasts right to their screens rather than the projector, it also helps students with visual problems see things more close up. I try to do the demonstrating less and allow the students demonstrate to each other. The option to pass control is great for having students work together to solve problems. Broadcasting school news:We have a laptop connected to the school tv network downstairs from my room. Before, I would have to go down there between classes to start the morning news. With Impero I can take control from my classroom Impromptu Questions:After covering material, a quick spot check is dead simple by asking questions through Impero. Shutting down and turning on computers:Being able to shut down and start up all of the computers in the morning and end of the day is GREAT!" |

"We have been using Impero software for a little over 5 months in our high school computer labs and are extremely pleased with its functionality and performance. As any education technology professional knows, monitoring the use of computer and Internet resources presents a cumbersome problem for a classroom teacher. Allowing students the freedom to explore these resources for educational purposes opens the door to many common problems: inappropriate behaviour, time-wasting activity, and exposure to unacceptable content. Our classroom teachers prefer Impero to other monitoring software, as it provides many features beyond simple monitoring, has automatic blocking and recording of policy violations, and is extremely easy to use. Besides the real-time monitoring, teachers have been using the freeze and demonstration features. While the teachers love it, perhaps the biggest evidence of Impero's success is that students absolutely hate it! Students are forced to remain on task and exhibit acceptable behaviour on-line with minimal policing by the teacher. With Impero, teachers are able to concentrate on teaching and students can now focus on their learning." |

"I have found that the Impero Software program offers applications that I have been wanting to purchase or am currently using. Useful functions, such as remote access, web filtering, and monitoring inappropriate communications are important to network and classroom managers. The Impero Software provides the functionality of a web filtering appliance. Administrator has the option to block inappropriate words or internet searches. The reporting tool catalogues a picture of the violation. The Impero Software provides the functionality of a classroom monitoring system. Impero Software can lock the monitors while a teacher is lecturing, or block the internet when students are testing. Impero also provides the option to display on all monitors the same display or to give an online test. For the IT administrator there is remote access to gain access to assist the computer user. Also available is a script program to prepare automatics installations of other applications. Take the opportunity to try Impero Software and I am sure you will find an application that will benefit your network and business." |

“Being a school district, we had looked at several solutions to better manage our workstations and student activity. Moving to Impero has provided just that. We are now replacing our former classroom management solution with Impero. This tool has provided our teaching staff valuable “peace of mind” and a favorable learning environment in our computer labs where the teacher has control and our technology Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is better enforced. We really like the discrete logging capability that Impero provides when a student policy violation is committed. The company offers great technical support for their product as well. Being in the IT industry for over 10 years, this is the best classroom management product I have seen yet. I highly recommend Impero Software.” |

"Impero is a definite time saver and superior lab management software. The software allows me to worry less about what the students are trying to hide and focus 100% on teaching. At the end of the day I can review the log file and see what is being accessed and update policies and create new ones as needed to help direct my class in a positive direction. The software has worked well for in class presentations, no longer do students have to strain to see what is being presented by another student using just a projector now they see it on each computer screen. The ability to talk with students about their work has opened my eyes to some students that were afraid to ask questions but using the chat feature they ask questions and have improved their work drastically." |

"We would never consider teaching pupils in a room containing, footballs, chemicals, Bunsen burners, etc., with free access to all equipment. The distraction would be too great to allow serious learning. In an ICT lab, we do just that. We expect pupils to focus on, for example, the use of absolute and relative cell references in a spreadsheet, while providing them with access to the Internet, games, email, chat and so on. Impero can remove the distraction and help pupils focus on the task at hand by easily blocking out distracting features. No more smug looks from pupils thinking they are being clever in checking their email in place of doing the work the teacher has set. Impero enables the teacher in the ICT lab to do exactly what teachers have been doing in traditional classrooms for years, namely to create an environment where pupils focus on the task at hand with no distraction to learning." |

| "Impero offers tools, which transform the work of a teacher trying to manage a lesson in a computer suite. It puts the teacher back in control of the learning environment, allowing the children to be more focused and the teacher more confident in using ICT to support learning, rather than being dominated by the technology." | |

"I have found the Impero Software to be an invaluable classroom management tool. On the first day I used it, I sat at the computer and picked up immediately on students who were off task or on alternative programs. This has resulted in pupils being much more focused; always on task and consequently learning a great deal more. I am now able to help pupils much more on a one to one basis. Other pupils remain on task even though I cannot see them or their screens. They know I only have to glance at Impero to monitor them. It is also useful to pick up on pupils who are struggling (screens don’t change or they are getting left behind). As I said, an invaluable classroom management tool." |

"Here at Ellis Guilford we are very pleased with Impero. It is so easy to use that our not so technically minded staff have no difficulty in it's use. I particularly like the function of powering down all of the PCs at the end of the day. The monitoring function is very good as is the screen locking capability. I would recommend Impero to anyone." |

"Having been frustrated by the complexity and lack of reliability of some of Impero’s (more expensive) competitors, I was delighted to find that Impero was not only easy to use for teaching staff, but also extremely effective in keeping students on task. None of the tricks that students had learned to bypass other network monitoring software work with Impero and the automatic upgrade and ease of installation mean that technical staff can simply install, configure and leave it alone. The facility to log all programs that have been run and all websites that have been visited has already led to some uncomfortable explanations from students, and word is getting round that it is just not worth wasting time in IT based lessons now" |

"At Up Holland High School We use Impero to help staff monitor what the pupils are doing and to show the whole class a specific pupils screen. We also use Impero to help staff manage internet access and program access, so if a pupil(s) are playing games on a specific internet site that site can be instantly blocked or if they are using programs that the teacher doesn’t want the pupils to be using then they can also block that. Screens can be locked in order for a member of staff to approach a pupil about what it is he/she is doing at the time of a violation. Impero is a great way of monitoring your whole classroom at once but from an administrator’s point of view, all of the workstations that you currently have a license for can also be viewed. All in all Impero is a very useful piece of software to have on your network." |

"I love the "garden wall" on the internet as well as banning access to programs! We have some programs that need to be installed that the students love playing on and will use instead of doing their work - now I can simply block those! Also fantastic that even if the kids reset the computer Impero still picks the computer back up again - the free package we had with CSE wouldn't do this and so the students found how to get around it!! My students are much more on task now - and intervention is at a much lower level - they don't seem to question the fact that the internet is banned now as they know they shouldn't have been on it anyway! ! You have actually made it enjoyable to teach ICT again - no more arguing with the students! Bliss!" |
